Combining Semantic Relations and DNA Microarray Data for Novel Hypotheses Generation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Although microarray experiments have great potential to support progress in biomedical research, results are not easy to interpret. Information about the functions and relations of relevant genes needs to be extracted from the vast biomedical literature. A potential solution is to use computerized text analysis methods. Our proposal enhances these methods with semantic relations. We describe an application that integrates such relations with microarray results and discuss its benefits in supporting enhanced access to the relevant literature for interpretation of results and novel hypotheses generation. The application is available at http://sembt.mf.uni-lj.si.

I-38: Chromosome Instability in The Cleavage Stage Embryo
Recently, we demonstrated chromosome instability (CIN) in human cleavage stage embryogenesis following in vitro fertilization (IVF). CIN not necessarily undermines normal human development (i.e. when remaining normal diploid blastomeres develop the embryo proper), however it can spark a spectrum of conditions, including loss of conception, genetic disease and genetic variation development. To s...

The nature and pace of genome mutation is largely unknown. Standard methods to investigate DNA-mutation rely on arraying or sequencing DNA from a population of cells, hence the genetic composition of individual cells is lost and de novo mutation in cell(s) is concealed within the bulk signal. We developed methods based on (SNP-) arraying and next-generation sequencing of single-cell whole-genom...
متن کاملOntology-based annotations and semantic relations in large-scale (epi)genomics data
Public repositories of large-scale biological data currently contain hundreds of thousands of experiments, including high-throughput sequencing and microarray data. The potential of using these resources to assemble data sets combining samples previously not associated is vastly unexplored. This requires the ability to associate samples with clear annotations and to relate experiments matched w...
متن کاملIntegration and Reduction of Microarray Gene Expressions Using an Information Theory Approach
The DNA microarray is an important technique that allows researchers to analyze many gene expression data in parallel. Although the data can be more significant if they come out of separate experiments, one of the most challenging phases in the microarray context is the integration of separate expression level datasets that have gathered through different techniques. In this paper, we prese...

Mashups are next generation of web applications. A mashup is a lightweight web application that is created by combining information or capabilities from more than one existing resources to deliver a new and integrated experience to the user. Mashups introduce a new class of integration techniques in enterprises for implementing situational applications (i.e. applications that come together to s...
